Considering we don't have an "enemies" area, I'm going to put it here. I was wondering how many types of enemies were in other similar RPG games. So I took a look, and this is what I found:
Chrono Trigger has 246 enemies in the DS version. This is split between 158 regular dudes and 88 bosses. That leaaves a 1.8:1 enemy/boss ratio. In the SNES and PS versions they have 131 regular dudes and 74 bosses, making 205 enemies. This one is also roughly 1.8:1 This game does list forms of bosses seperately and many boss fights included multiple different "parts" (Queen Zeal, Right Hand, Left Hand were one boss fight and all three are listed seperately) listened seperately so there may actually be fewer.
Final Fantasy IV: I played the DS version which had 200 monsters. 150 are monsters and 50 are bosses. This game has an easy 3:1 ratio of enemies to bosses.
Golden Sun: This one's tough because I can't find a list where it numbers it's monsters, thus my count may be skewed because of this. I count 94 regular enemies and then 20 bosses, but I'm not sure it covers Crossbone Isle's guardians. This game has a 4.7:1 ratio. I may revisit this one, or just throw it out.
Mother 3: 187 total enemies. 148 enemies and 39 bosses makes a 3.8:1 ratio. Note that the bosses were pretty hard in this game, forcing you to use stat ups and set shields.
So, I wanted to see a good ratio of enemies to bosses or just a relative number we should shoot for. I think FF4's number is the best (200 total, 50 bosses). Take note, I only counted the total number of bosses, not boss encounters. Otherwise Chrono Trigger's boss numbers would be a lot smaller.
