The Judge and youWhat is a judge? The judge is the player that has taken it upon himself to to keep the whole mess in order and make sure everything is run right. Without them, the whole thing would not work. Why do we need a judge? The answer is simple. Without a judge, anyone could claim to have done something and there would be no order. With a judge, there are rules and regulations to keep the game working right. What does the judge do?The judge is responsible for many things. For starters, they start the game. - They determine the pre-existing conditions between the nations, allowing the judge some control of the game, so they don't feel as if they are simply an adding machine.
- They receive all the ORDERS and DEALS put out by players and record them
- They alone know who each individual character is controlled by, as players can opt to remain anonymous, and as such, can talk to the players in real life
What are the benefits to playing judge?I'm not gonna lie, playing the judge is a lot less fun than playing a leader. The judge is allowed, however, to influence the beginning of the game, and I plan on adding in a feature that allows the judge to influence the endgame. The judge can see almost all of what goes on, however, giving them a unique perspective on the world.

would the judge also control things like supply/demand, natural disasters, and other random happenstances that would affect, say, the economy or the people's happiness? just to give them more to do and influence in-game.

I was considering random events. Like at random intervals, the judge could pick from a list of events and have it happen to either a nation, or the whole world.

I like natural disasters being random...not that I don't want the judges to have too much power, but just to make the job easier to handle, maybe we only pick select exports/imports and have a few charts of supply/demand values/exchanges or something, just so the judge doesn't have to be monitoring all of those things all the time, and so it'll be easier to tell the players, "look at economics chart F" or something. Just my thought on one part of the judge's job
